What Is the Side Effect of Pyrilutamide

How Does Pyrilutamide Work
Pyrilutamide is a non-steroidal antiandrogen (NSAA). NSAAs works by preventing testosterone and DHT from binding to androgen receptors in the follicles.
DHT is the key androgen that causes hair thinning.
In the scalp, testosterone is converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. DHT binds closely to hormone receptors in hair follicles and activates genes responsible for shortening the growth period. As this process is repeated on the scalp, the hair cover is usually thinned at the top of the head, temples and forehead. Pyrilutamide is an antagonist of androgen receptor (AR). It combines with hair follicle AR to prevent DHT from combining with it.
Pyrilutamide vs Ora Dutasteride, Finasteride
Finasteride (Propecia or Proscar) is an oral 5 α-reductase inhibitor, which means it blocks the conversion of testosterone to DHT and has been shown to reduce scalp DHT levels by up to 60%. The most common secondary effect of finasteride is sexual dysfunction-difficulty in erection or maintenance of erection, delayed ejaculation and decreased libido, affecting about 1.5% of men.

The compound was previously investigated by manufacturers of ProStrakan, a Scottish pharmaceutical company, and phase I and II trials were completed. Still, data for these trials have yet to be released, and clinical trials have been stopped since 2007.
Some people who cannot use finasteride have used RU58841 as a substitute. Some people get positive results, while others don't, hoping that Pyrilutamide will be the savior. However, it is unclear whether those who have side effects due to finasteride and RU 58841 will be free from side effects due to this new product.

Cortexolone 17 α-propionate, also known as CB-0301, is a topical steroid antiandrogen.
