4-amino-3-phenyl-butyric Acid, also called phenibut, is a nootropic which can reduce anxity and make people feel relax, while small amount alcohol also can get same effect. Then, some people asked if phenibut and alcohol can be taken together to increase the effect. The answer is NO! It won’t give you a more powerful effect, but may lead to some negative side effects.

Phenibut is derived from the GABA neurotransmitter, when GABA is released into the brain, you can feel calm and relaxed. The thing is GABA supplement can not cross through the blood-brain barrier to activate the GABA receptors. However, phenibut can mimic the function of gaba. The most important thing is it can corss the blood-brain barrier and stimulate two types of GABA receptor---GABA-A and GABA-B. That’s how phenibut work. Meanwhile, alcohol also can stimulate GABA receptor to relief anxiety and reduce stress. Alcohol can act on GABA-A directly and act on GABA-B mildly to produce similar effect as phenibut. However, that doesn’t mean one plus one equals two or over two---taking phenibut with alcohol together won’t get double effect. On the contrary, it may cause serious consequence.

If you take phenibut and alcohol together, it will strengthen the effect of alcohol. Over-stimulation of GABA receptors may lead to temporary mental impairment, excessive fatigue, and even temporary unconsciousness. According to the report of some users, mixing phenibut with alcohol, one drink will feel like 3 drinks. It is quite dangerous to taking them together, especially for great drinkers or people who have a high tolerance of alcohol. So don’t mix phenibut with alcohol!

Some people will use alcohol after the phenibut cycle to avoid phenibut withdrawal. Theoretically, it works. Because alcohol can mimic the effects of phenibut after stopping phenibut cycle. However, we don’t suggest using this way to stop phenibut usage. Taking phenibut in a proper way is more important.
