Activation and increase of mitochondria
5-ALA is naturally occuring in organism, and produced by mitochondria. So we say mitochondria are organelles in the cell which produce 5-ALA. Its mian role is to produce energy from food and oxygen. There is a "respiratory chain complex" in mitochondria , and heme made in mitochondria acts as the active center of the respiratory chain complex.
